Sicilia es la isla más grande del Mediterráneo y la región más grande de Italia. A ella pertenecen también las islas Eolias, Ustica, Égades, Pantelleria y Pelagias. El estrecho de Mesina la separa del continente.
Es famosa por sus volcanes y su rica historia. ¿Quién no conoce el Etna, Stromboli o Vulcano? El Etna es el volcán activo más grande de Europa y Stromboli la base secreta del Nautilus del Capitán Nemo. Su rica historia nos ha dejado el legado de griegos, romanos, normandos, árabes y cristianos.

A note about the dialect spoken in Sicily. It is the result of all countries who dominated down the ages. In my opinion, it is much strong the remaining of Spanish domination too. For example, the verb TRAVAGGHIARI it is much close to Spanish TRABAJAR and very different from Italian LAVORARE; or MUGGHIERE (WIFE), deriving from Spanish MUJER.
