Until the XIX century they were 2 towns: Buda (previously "Ofen"), in the hill at the left of the Danube, and Pest.
ResponderEliminarThey say that in the primitive area of Buda there was the headquarter of Attila, the chief of Huns, the barbarians who did bring the final damages to the Western Roman Empire in the V century.
Two curiosities more:
1- The name "Hungary" we use in western Europe just derives from the Huns, but Hungarians call thein own country Magyar;
2- In the pronunciation of "Budapest" remember that "s" in Hungarian = "sh" in English. Thus, "Budapesht".
